Chardonnay - A Bright
clean, citrusy wine with aromas of apple and pear, this most classic of all
white varietals has a balanced oak and a tart acidic finish. 50% steel and
50% neutral French Oak.
GRV White - Crisp,
refreshing and slightly sweet. Steel fermented blend of Chardonnel and
Traminette. A wonderful summertime picnic wine. 1.5% residual sugar.
Viognier - A very aromatic wine with a wonderful
floral bouquet, and lovely tropical notes. Great for sipping at sunset as an
aperitif. This grape originated in France's Rhone River valley, but has
proven to be one of Virginia's most successful varietals, making wines that
rival any in the world.
Red
Rose - Fresh and crisp with a touch of sweetness,
but well structured with firm acidity, our Rose will make a great summer
cocktail wine or salad course accompaniment. Match with Virginia ham and
(you gotta try this) Hawaiian pizza. 2% residual sugar; a blend of Vidal
Blanc, Chambourcin and Traminette.
GRV Red - This bold blend
of Chambourcin and Merlot exhibits beautiful dark fruit, hints of spice and
pepper, then finishes with structural, lingering tannins of black currants.
Great with tomato based pasta dishes or steaks on the grill.
Merlot
- The world's most popular red wines are produced from the prominent grape
grown in the Saint-Emilion and Pomerol communes of Bordeaux. Merlot has
captivated the American wine market with its fresh, ripe fruit appeal, being
less acidic and generally softer than its French counter parts. Cherry,
Raspberry and smoky oak flavors dominate with hints of mint.
Petit Verdot -
100% Petit Verdot from the exceptional harvest of 2010. It is a hardy grape,
fast becoming one of VA's newest stand-out varietals with big bold
characters. This is a wine to enjoy now or cellar for several years.
Characteristics to note are ripe berries, full tannins and layers of
complexity. The Petit Verdot would pair wonderfully with a hearty stew, aged
Gouda and most winter fare. Just in time to be enjoyed in front of the fire!
Pinot Noir -
This noble grape is known for making wines of elegance and refinement, with
a wide ranging array of style and character from the Cote d'Or to Oregon.
Here in Virginia, our Pinot Noir is a lavish, lively wine full of unique
characters. A Pinot Noir from the east coast displays earthier, smoky notes.
This is definitely a big wine to be paired with a meat dish, or a rich
chocolate dessert. It is great with game meats, portabello mushrooms or dark
chocolate desserts.
